PURPOSE:To decrease greatly the number of memories and to shorten the average code length, by ensuring the highly efficiency coding by performing the compression of information with a non-block system. CONSTITUTION:The signal series are stored once in a buffer 1 and then fed to a signal converter 7 which performs the compression of information with a non- block coding system. The converter 7 produces a new series Xi from three continuous signals Xi-1, Xi, Xi+1 (i=1,2...) and on the basis of a rule shown by the equations. A counter 8 counts the number of continuous 1 and subsequent number of O for the converted signal series. Then an access is given to a code table 9 by the combinations of the count values of the counter 8. The table 9 shows a list of codes having shortest average lengths with the Huffman coding system. Then the code words corresponding to combinations of above-mentioned values are delivered in the form of compressed codes of the input signal series. |
