摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain excellent phosphoric acid retention characteristic by causing inorganic compound particles in a powder condition to come into contact with and to adhere to an electrode catalyst layer impregnated with phosphoric acid. CONSTITUTION:A matrix layer is formed by impregnating a catalyst layer 3 surface with phosphoric acid and causing inorganic compound particles 2 in powder condition to come in contact with and to adhere to the catalyst layer 3 and using phosphoric acid as an adhesive. This is because the phosphoric acid impregnated in the catalyst layer 3 has adhesiveness. A shape can be retained without using a binder such as polytetrofluoroethylene. This makes it possible to easily form a matrix layer excellent in phosphoric acid retention characteristic.
