Method using a vehicle-mounted sensing arrangement 11 comprising distance-measuring device with a narrow measurement lobe, sweeping directional arrangement and an angular position-indicator in order to continuously create in electrical signal form a series of images of obstacles 17, 18, 19 arising in the path of movement of the vehicle. By means of the method, on the one hand the distance to the nearest obstacle and on the other hand the speed of approach of the vehicle in relation to the obstacle are calculated. If this speed is not related to the remaining distance measured to the closest obstacle in such a manner that there is an adequate margin, a warning alarm of emergency braking of the vehicle is triggered. <IMAGE> |
