PURPOSE: To narrow a pore distribution and to enhance porosity by preparing a catalyst support contg. a plurality of stable and highly porous coprecipitated crystallite particles by an integral mixture composed of alumina and at least one lanthanide oxide. CONSTITUTION: The catalyst support material contg. the porous coprecipitated crystallite particles which consist of the alumina and at least one lanthanide oxide and in which 20 to 50% pores have a pore size ranging from 200 to 400 Å. The lanthanide oxide described above is adequately cerium, lanthanum, praseodymium, neodymium or their mixture. The active catalyst is adequately deposited on the surface of the catalyst support material. The amt. of the alumina is adequately 1 to 75 wt.% of the entire solid content of the catalyst support material. The amt. of the lanthanide is adequately 1 to 45 wt.% of the weight of the alumina. |
