A bottle crate has a base column and a vertical corner column 3, which are connected at the top by top pieces 4 so that the crate has openings 6 in the sides. The crate has a compartmentalized 7 insert 2, which is displaceable between a lower position in which it blocks the openings 6 and an upper position in which it allows sideways removal of the bottles. The insert 2 is guided in the crate by guide surfaces 12,13. To allow simple fitting of the insert 2 and maintain small external measurements, the side walls of the crate have essentially flat inner sides. Two opposite-situated top parts 4 have wall sections 22 which are displaced outwards from the interior of the crate in relation to adjoining wall sections. The outwardly displaced wall section 22 has its outer side level with the outer edges of stiffening ribs disposed on the top pieces 4. The insert 2 has two compartments 19 which with their walls 20, in the upper position of the insert, extend partially out into those spaces 21 in the top pieces 4 which are formed by the outwardly displaced wall sections 22. <IMAGE> |
