PURPOSE:To obtain a crosslinked elastomer of excellent elastomer properties in good efficiency without causing rapid vulcanization reaction, scorching and foaming by kneading an unvulcanized elastomer with specified capsules containing a peroxide as a core material. CONSTITUTION:A peroxide-vulcanizable unvulcanized elastomer, for example, an acrylonitrile/butadiene copolymer, an ethylene/propylene copolymer, a fluorinated synthetic rubber or a silicon rubber, is kneaded with capsules each consisting of a core material comprising a peroxide such as benzoyl peroxide and a wall material comprising a urea resin or a melamine resin to obtain a crosslinked elastomer. It is desirable in this case that, after the unvulcanized elastomer is masticated, 0.1-50pts.wt. capsules are added to 100pts.wt. elastomer at about 20 deg.C. When the peroxide has a 10-hr half life temperature of 50-180 deg.C, it is desirable that the vulcanization is performed at 100-150 deg.C for about 20-100hr. |
