The method uses a system for the radiolocation of a moving object M. At least two intermediate beacons P, Q are placed in a region within the range of a navigation network A, B, C, D, the beacons consisting of a responder so as to form a radionavigation sub-network. Information about the distance separating the moving object M from the intermediate beacons P, Q is collected, and data about the distance separating each reference source of the radionavigation network from each intermediate beacon is then retransmitted to the moving object M. The instantaneous position of each intermediate beacon P, Q with respect to the radionavigation network A, B, C, D and the position of the mobile object M with respect to the intermediate beacons P, Q and then with respect to the radionavigation network are determined by triangulation. Application to the radiolocation of mobile objects formed by ships engaged in marine geophysics. <IMAGE>
