The invention relates to a method for charging sealed maintenance-free accumulators, preferably lead accumulators, with a thixotropic gel as electrolyte. In this method, constant-current charging phases alternate with constant-voltage ones. This increases the rate of recombination of oxygen to form water to such an extent that the water losses still occurring do not limit the service life of the battery. |
