A strip-shaped or sheet-shaped semi-finished product for electrical contacts is described which consists of a support layer (1) made from a base metal or from a base metal alloy, and one or more metal layers (2, 3, 4) deposited on top of one another on the support layer (1), of which layers the first, in particular, consists of a noble metal or of a noble metal alloy. At a distance from the support layer (1) a barrier (5) runs which divides a fine-pored overlayer with low pore density and having very fine to amorphous structure from an underlayer which contains larger pores and has a coarser structure and a larger number of pores per unit volume. <IMAGE>
