A load-bearing or suspension device for cables, pipelines and the like contains H-shafts which are in the form of bars and are connected, via an intermediate piece which is releasably fitted at one end of the H-shaft, to a structure of the building in which the cables or pipes are to be laid. In order to be able to exploit to the fullest possible extent the loading capacity of the dowels, with low weight of the intermediate piece, said intermediate piece comprises an essentially rectangular frame which is made up of flat profiles which are arranged in an up-ended manner and each run in pairs in parallel with one another. The flat profiles which form the longitudinal sides of the frame-like configuration each bear a retaining flange on their two mutually facing inner sides. The web of the shaft is arranged between the two retaining flanges.
