In order to design the processing mechanisms for the fuel of a weapon with a barrel having regenerative injection of liquid propellants into a combustion chamber easily and safely and to comply with the overall firing sequence in all possible conditions, an axially moving piston (2) is inserted into a breech housing (1) which carries out a rotational movement in addition to its axial movement. Pockets (20) are produced by means of longitudinal webs (17) with longitudinal grooves (3) in the piston (2) and corresponding recesses (18) in the breech housing (1), through which pockets (20) the liquid propellant is transported forwards to the cavity (15) during the rearward movement of the piston (2). The limited rotational movement of the piston (2) controls sliding bodies (8) which slide in control curves (9) in the breech housing (1), said control curves (9) being fixed to the housing. <IMAGE>
