PURPOSE:To omit the transport of a floppy disk, etc., storing the character patterns produced at each terminal by performing the centralized control of the character patterns used by a terminal equipment at the side of a host computer. CONSTITUTION:A character pattern production means 1 produces the character patterns for a Japanese word printer and a Japanese word work station. A character pattern memory means 2 stores the character patterns produced by the means 1 into a file of an external memory. A character pattern allotment request detection means 3 detects a character pattern allotment request given from a terminal equipment. A character pattern reading/sending means 4 reads a corresponding character pattern out of the file of the external memory and sends this pattern to the terminal equipment with said character pattern allotment request. Then a received character pattern storing device 11 receives the character pattern sent from the means 4 and stores it in the file of the external memory of the terminal equipment.
