To cover the region which cannot be viewed using the wing mirror and is situated in the "blind spot", the fastenable mounting which is arranged on the inside of the vehicle door alongside the wing mirror is provided with an additional rear view mirror which can be pivoted about a vertical axis which is displaced longitudinally, the said rear view mirror having a mirror frame which encloses a piece of mirror glass, is extended in a telescopically limited fashion out of the casing quickly and safely by means of the helical compression spring when the initiating lever is actuated by the driver of the vehicle and is made to pivot outwards towards the end position into the using position in a sprung fashion by the helical spring on the fixed adjustable stop. If required, the rear view mirror can be quickly and easily pivoted away and pushed into the casing.
