The additional switch (1) is intended for surface mounting on a line protection circuit breaker (2). In the case of such additional switches, it is desirable to be able to carry out the setting to operate as an auxiliary switch or signal switch and/or relative auxiliary switch not only before surface mounting on an associated line protection circuit breaker (2) and/or before assembly with further such auxiliary switches and signal switches, but also subsequently as well, in the assembled state, on the wired-up apparatus, without any additional installation tasks. This is achieved in that a freewheeling device (11), which can be raised as required by means of a coupling element (12), is arranged between the operating toggle (4) and the locking device (7) of the additional switch (1). The coupling element (12) is constructed as a connecting shoe (28) which can be plugged on and, when the connecting shoe is plugged on, is fitted on its upper end surface with the type designation "Hi" designate the function as being an "auxiliary switch". In this function, the original function of the additional switch (1) as a "relative auxiliary switch" or signal switch, which is designated by the type designation "RHi" on the end surface of the operating toggle (4), is covered by the connecting shoe (28) so that the respective function of the additional switch (1) can easily be identified just on the basis of the designations on the connecting shoe (28) and on the operating toggle (4). <IMAGE>
