PURPOSE: To surely connect metal pieces by constituting a die member of an anvil having a flat end surface and a forming member which encloses the anvil and protrudes, superposing a plurality of sheet metal work pieces and connecting them with a punch in a press and the forming member. CONSTITUTION: A base part 18 of the anvil 16 is set to a socket 10 having a V shaped top metal 12, and the die member is constituted of the anvil 16 and plural forming member segments 20. The die member is installed on a table of the press, and the punch 26 wherein the anvil 16 is made to coincide with an axial center is operated in the direction of the arrow 28. When two or more sheet-like metal pieces are pressed between the die member and the punch 26, the material between the punch 26 and the anvil 16 is deformed by a cavity part of the die member without cutting the sheet metal and firmly connected. The metal pieces are surely connected because a drain opening 40 is formed in the cavity part. |
