The invention relates to a process for bonding mouldings, profiles and the like made from crosslinked, partially crosslinked or ultrahigh-molecular-weight polymeric materials. The joint faces of the mouldings/profiles are heated by external supply of heat to the melting point of the crystalline polymer constituents. Immediately thereafter, a polymer coating which is compatible with the base polymer is applied to the molten joint faces. The coated joint faces of the mouldings/profiles are then melted by external supply of heat and welded to one another while applying compressive pressure. |
