PURPOSE:To execute the electrical execution of 1 X plural switching and to enable the compensation of even the loss of light guides by optically coupling the plural light guides and gratings having the periodicity along the guiding direction and providing active layers for optical amplification and clad covering said layer atop the respective light guides. CONSTITUTION:The gratings 6 are formed to the intersected parts of the light guides 2-5 formed atop a semiconductor substrate 1 and one period thereof is made to coincide with the direction of the light guides 2, 3 and the other one period is made to coincide with the direction of the light guides 4, 5. The active layers 7 for optical amplification optically coupled to the light guides and the clad 8 covering the layers 7 are respectively provided on the respective light guides 2-5. Amplified laser beams are emitted as exit light beams 15-18 from the light guides 2-5 when current is passed through the electrodes 9-13 to the active layers 7 at the time when incident light 14 advances from the gratings 6 to the light guides 2-5. The processing to emit the laser beams to desired directions is thereby electrically executed and the loss of the light guides is compensated by amplification. |
