Use of polymeric, optionally quaternised condensates, which contain piperazine rings bonded via chain members, as conditioners for the pretreatment of nonmetallic surfaces of mouldings before the nucleation thereof for a subsequent chemical metallisation. This gives particularly uniform and firmly adhering metal coatings.
