PURPOSE:To suppress wear of a nozzle for water jet during jetting of pressurized water by forming the nozzle consisting of a sintered material of a titanium boride ceramic having specific porosity, wherein a matrix layer having a mixed solution of a transition metal borides and titanium carbide is arranged between titanium boride particles. CONSTITUTION:A nozzle 10 for water jet, which is supported by a nozzle holding jig 14 attached to the tip of a feed pipe of pressurized water and jets pressurized water, consists of a sintered material of a titanium boride ceramic. The sintered material has a structure wherein a matrix layer 30 having mixed solid solution of bromides of one or more metals M of transition metals and titanium carbide is arranged between TiB2 particles 20 and has <=5% porosity. To produce the nozzle 10, powder of TiB2 is mixed with powder of the metal M and carbon powder, treated with a binder into pressurized powder, to which pressure is applied to form a molded article. Then the molded article is sintered in a nonoxidizing atmosphere to give a sintered material of ceramic, which is finished. |
