PURPOSE:To facilitate the assembly and adjustment of a pair of side members and improve the accuracy of the assembly, by holding the pair of side members in such postures as to be attached to a vehicle, and by only moving the side members vertically and horizontally to position them to a center member. CONSTITUTION:An underbody 2 is stopped as it is positioned by the pin 34a of a positioner 34. A pair of side members 3L, 3R are held by hooks 11 on the rods of air cylinders 10 as the side members are in such postures as to be attached to a vehicle. The side members are then carried to the center of the underbody 2 by a conveyance mechanism 4. A pantograph mechanism 9 is elongated to move down a conveyance rest 8 to put the lower ends 3b of the side members 3 on the horizontal surfaces 18b of guides 18 for support mechanisms 5. The cylinders 21 of positioning mechanisms 6 are driven to move frames 20 to support the side members 3L, 3R by clampers 28 and supports 32, 33. Other cylinders 22 are then driven to bring the side members 3L, 3R into contact with the underbody 2 to spot-weld the side members thereon. |
