The percussion fixing tool incorporates a striker which is itself driven by a reciprocating hammer, so that the nail or staple being driven in is subjected to a series of blows which make its penetration easier. The striker forms a detachable assembly with the nail or staple holder, and is connected to a locking element which stops the hammer action once the nail/staple has been driven in to the required depth.
