PURPOSE:To effectively set internal layer resin with ultraviolet rays passing through an external layer by making photosetting resin which forms coatings of respective layers of a single-layered coating optical fiber different in effective setting wavelength range. CONSTITUTION:When a two-layered coating optical fiber which is coated with coating resin, layer by layer, on a tandem basis is manufactured, a base material sending device 5 sends a base material 8 into a wire drawing furnace 6. A glass fiber 2 which is drawn by the wire drawing device 7 consisting of the base material sending device 5 and wire drawing furnace 6 is coated by a coating device 15 with photosetting resin forming an internal layer coating and the resin is set by an ultraviolet-ray irradiation device 13. Then a coating device 16 applies photosetting resin which forms an external layer coating and differs in setting wavelength range from the internal layer resin and the resin is set by an ultraviolet-ray irradiation device 14 to form the optical fiber 1 with the two-layered coating, which is taken up by a take-up device 12 through a capstan 11. Further, a simultaneous coating system can be used which coats a drawn base material with resin for an internal and an external layer forming a two-layer coating at the same time and projects ultraviolet rays to set the resin for the internal and external layers. |
