A tungsten cermet has the composition of, by wt. ratio, 10-50% composite metal carbonitride of Ti and W as a hard phaseforming component, 0.5-10% aluminum oxide as the same component and the bal. W and inevitable impurities as a binder phase-forming component. This cermet is useful as a high speed machining tool, a work roll for a hot rolling mill, a punch for hot extrusion,, etc. since its sintering process is accelerated by Al2O3 as a hard phase-forming component, a sintered body can be obtd. at a relatively low temperature. This cermet is improved in all of toughness, impact strength and oxidation resistance. |
