PURPOSE:To favorably refeed recording paper by reducing the transport speed on return path side for refeeding recording paper to an image forming portion to be substantially the same as the normal paper feed speed in a duplex image recording apparatus. CONSTITUTION:The peripheral speed of a manual feed roller 19 which is paper transport direction switching means is changed to make the transport speed in an outward trip higher than the paper feed speed, whereby the space with the next paper sheet is made smaller as much as possible to increase the capacity. At the time of bringing a paper sheet 18 into contact with a gate plate 5-3 to form a fixed loop, the transport speed in a return path is wade slower than the transport speed in the outward path, so that the loop amount is fixed and the paper sheet 18 can be prevented from being bent by contacting force. The manual feed roller 19, a manual feed sensor 21, a manual feed guide 6-10 and so on are appropriated for paper transport direction switching means, and a manual feed introduction path R-9 is used as a reversed paper path in a duplex recording mode, whereby the constitution can be simplified. |
