The present invention relates to an axle for a vehicle including independent wheels 1 associated with braking devices 2 each one comprising a rotary part 3 and a stationary part 4. This axle is essentially characterized in that it comprises two coaxial half shafts 5 carrying at least one wheel 1 at each of their furthest-away ends, and the rotary part 3 of a braking device 2 at each of their closest ends, these half shafts being mounted rotationally in two sleeves 7 each one carrying the stationary part 4 of one of the braking devices 2 and each one secured to a suspension arm. <IMAGE>
