The method ensures compacting and transporting of bulk products of low density, such as seed cotton. A container 2 provided for the light bulk goods is introduced into a frame 1 whose superstructure constitutes a displacement path for the compacting means 14 which are capable both of a transfer displacement along the frame 1 above the container 2 and of a vertical compacting action, the light bulk goods are levelled and packed down by displacement of the said compacting means 14 in step with the filling of the container with the light bulk goods and the container 2 filled with compacted bulk goods is discharged outside the frame 1. Use, in particular, for improving the conditions for transporting seed cotton. <IMAGE>
