PURPOSE:To obtain a thin separator coated plate of a plate body having a satisfactory workability by adding a separator laminating step and a lug cutting step to the expanded plate manufacture line. CONSTITUTION:A band continuous expanded metal grating 5 composed of lead or lead alloy formed in the tandem form through plate lugs 4 is charged with an active material 17 to form continuous plates 6, 6'. The bent-up part of a band separator 8 wound in a roll form is splitted by a splitting roller 9 and made into two pieces of separators 16, 16' by a splitter 10. An adhesive is applied to the side edge parts of the separators by an adhesive coating device 11, and the center parts of the separators 16, 16' are bent in the U-shaped form by a bending roller 14 so that the center lines of the separators are laid along the outer side lines of the band plates. The electrode plates 6, 6' are fitted therein, respectively, and fixed thereto by a pressure fitting roller 15. Further, the cutting part 21 indicated in the center of the plate lug is cut down by a cutter 13a and separated into two series of band plates. The obtained continuous plates are cut down by a cutter 19 to obtain separator coated plates 7. |
