<p>PURPOSE: To obtain good barrier properties to oxygenated and hydrocarbon compds by using an alkylcarboxyl substd. polyolefin as a compatibilizer to blend a polyolefin with a molten blend of a nylon and a polyvinyl alcohol component. CONSTITUTION: A laminar article comprises a combination of a polylolefin (a), a molten blend (b) of a polyamide and a polyvinyl alcohol component and an alkylcarboxyl substd. polyolefin C. The blend (b) is present in the polyolefin (a) as a large number of thick and substantially two-dimensional parallel and superposed layers. All of these components are combined at sufficient temp. in order to melt these components to form a molten non-uniform blend which is, in turn, stretched to be cooled to a temp. lower than the m.p. of a polymer component having the lowest m.p. By this constitution, the laminar article like a container having good barrier properties to an oxygenated compd. and hydrocarbon blend can be provided.</p> |
