PURPOSE:To improve the ground contact performance of the tread and blocks of a tire so as to aim at preventing abrasion due to heel-and-toe and at enhancing the drivability and brakability by forming groove-like notches at specific position on the side wall surfaces of transverse grooves forming the blocks in the tread. CONSTITUTION:A tire tread is formed therein with a plurality of main grooves 1 extending circumferentially of a tire, and several transverse grooves 2 crossing the main grooves 1, which define several blocks 3. In this arrangement, groove- like notches 4 are formed in the side walls of the blocks on the transverse groove 2 side. Further these notches 4 are set in parallel with the outer surface of the blocks 3, and are made to be substantially continuous. Further, the forward end part of each of the notches 4 is prolonged to a position exceeding the line G connecting between the circumferential end part Ed on the outer surface of the block 3 and the rotary axis of the tire. With this arrangement, it is possible to improve the ground contact abilities of the tread and the blocks 3, as well to prevent abrasion due to heel-and-toe, and to enhance the drivability and the brakability. |
