The invention relates to a method for the actuation of a preset timer, especially a timer clock, by means of various keys provided therefor. According to the invention, individual keys are multiply successively actuated with the aid of a test and evaluation logic unit designed in a special way, for the triggering of various switching processes, the first actuation of a key having, in the final analysis, a consequent switching command which differs from that of the second actuation of the same key.
