In the case of an oil burner with an oil-spraying device which is arranged in an air supply tube or the like fed by a blower and surrounded by a ceramic fire tube which projects, seen in the flow direction, beyond the air supply tube and at least partly surrounds the latter, as far as possible at a short distance, there is provided a protective device for the ceramic fire tube which not only preserves the functioning thereof in terms of firing, but further increases its efficiency, if necessary, and as a result of its construction and/or arrangement contributes to keeping off blows and/or impacts and the like on the ceramic fire tube. This device, which is constructed in particular as a protective tube which surrounds the fire tube at a distance, should be combined with the fire tube to form a structural, easily replaceable unit.
