Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf eine elektrochemische Zelle mit einer Leichtmetallanode, einer porösen Metall- oder Kohlenstoffkathode und einem flüssigen Elektrolyt in Form eines nichtwässrigen, anorganischen Lösungsmittels, wobei vorzugsweise Tionylchlorid eingesetzt wird. Dieser Elektrolyt ist in einem geschlossenem Behälter gelagert und wird erst bei der Inbetriebnahme zerstört, um die Kathode zu benetzen. Den darauffolgenden Anstieg der Sollspannung bezeichnet man als Aktivierungszeit. Zur Verringerung der Aktivierungszeit und zur Erhöhung der Sollspannung wird dem Elektrolyt-Grundbestandteil ein Oxidationsmittel, vorzugsweise in Form von Sulfurylchlorid, zugesetzt. The electrolyte is stored in a sealed container and is only destroyed when the cell is first used, in order to wet the cathode. The resultant increase in the rated voltage is an index of the activation time. In order to reduce the activation time and to increase the rated voltage, an oxidizing agent, preferably sulphuryl chloride, is added to the basic constituent of the electrolyte. |
