1,014,073. Anchor-nuts. CARR FASTENER CO. Ltd. Jan. 14, 1964 [March 20, 1963], No. 11100/63. Heading F2H. A sheet metal nut, to be mounted in a rectangular hole a<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 3, in a support a, with limited movement (being prevented from full rotation by stops 8), has arms 6 parallel to its base 1 and spaced by portions 7 from the edges of the walls 4, 4a from which they are subtended so that the arms 6 and wall edges overlap the opposite faces of the support a, i.e. at two opposed corners of the hole a<SP>1</SP> as shown, when the nut is inserted in the hole and rotated by a tool, Fig. 4 (not shown). Rotation by the tool forces the trailing edges of the portions 7 and the two stops 8 past the edges of the aperture a<SP>1</SP>. The stops 8 extend to or beyond the plane of the arms 6. The helical edge 3, of a generally frusto-conical protuberance 2 from the base, is for engaging a screwthread. |
