PURPOSE:To contrive reductions in the size and weight of a printing head and a reduction in the cost of a device, by using external light through a lighting window to use the light as a static charge-eliminating light source. CONSTITUTION:When a cartridge 1 is moved in the direction of an arrow (a) to perform recording, a photosensitive drum 10 is rotated in the direction of an arrow A, and uniform static electrification is conducted by a uniform electrifier 2. Then, irradiation with light is conducted through an optical system 3a to form an electrostatic latent image on the drum 10, and the latent image is visualized by a developing roller 4a. At this moment, a lighting window 7a on the side of the roller 4a is fully closed. A toner image thus formed on the drum 10 is transferred onto a recording paper 9 by a transferring device 5, and is fixed in the next step. When the drum 10 is passed through the position of a lighting window 7b, the drum 10 is irradiated with external light, whereby static charges on the drum 10 are eliminated. Thereafter, effective cleaning is conducted by a cleaning and developing machine 4b. |
