A METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ASCERTAINING THE NET WEIGHT OF A FROZEN, ICE-COATED PRODUCT

The method implies that the liquid used to melt the ice-coating of the product in question has a density that is adjusted to the density of said product, with and without ice-coating resp., that the product with ice-coating will float on the surface of the liquid, but without ice-coating will sink into the liquid. Furthermore the circumstance that a given product is sinking into the liquid, as indication that the ice-coating has just melted, is used as starting point for the further treatment of the product. Thus a measuring method is established which contrary to prior art methods is entirely independent of any operator and therefore better suited to provide uniform neutral measurements. The indicated process also renders a high degree of automatization of the measuring procedure feasible.
