Method and apparatus for ultrasonic welding

A method of ultrasonically welding laminated material under high pressure by ultrasonic vibrations is described in which the material is transported during the welding and the welding contact is periodically interrupted in a pulsating manner by neutralising or reducing the applied pressure. To carry out this method, the special feature of the apparatus consists in the fact that a rotating anvil roller has a peripheral tooth system of projections and guides are provided which accommodate the material between them in the area of the welding point.
