The invention proceeds from rubber belts of this type which have longitudinal and transverse threads as reinforcing inserts as well as edge zones on both sides of the longitudinal threads as deformable portions. In order to stiffen these portions and to simplify the production of the belt, the transverse threads extend over and beyond the width of these edge zones.
