PURPOSE: To produce a material with a blood compatible surface by extruding simultaneously a thermoplastic polymer along with a copolymer having urethane and siloxane segment with a hydroxyalkyl end-group so as to form a material having the copolymer layer on the polymer so that the copolymer layer gives a blood compatible surface to the material. CONSTITUTION: Silicone oil (60G, Scilla* Laboratories, Scochia*, NEW YORK) with a hydroxybutyl end-group and a mixed solvent 100ml (50ml each of dimethylacetamide and 2-ethoxyethyl ether) are loaded in a polymerizing pot. A solution of MDI25G is stirred in the mixed solvent 100ml, and the mixture is kept under stirring for one hour at 60-70 deg.C. After the mixture is cooled to 30 deg.C, BD6. 3G is added to the mixed solvent 100ml. Stirring is continued for 1 hour, then, the mixture is heated at 45 deg.C for 1 hour. Polymer is obtained by evaporating the solvent at 70 deg.C. A simultaneous thermoplastic aromatic polyether polyurethane according to the method of the preferred embodiment 2 and a silicone urethane copolymer layer obtained according to the preferred embodiment 1 at glass transition temperature of -118 deg.C and melting point of 174 deg.C are extruded simultaneously. |
