<p>Apparatus for making discrete closely-spaced deposits on a microscope slide comprises a support (9) for holding several slides and a vertically reciprocable carrier (3) for holding several applicators, e.g. mapping pen nibs, which can be touched onto the slides by lowering the carrier. In order to allow the deposists to be made at a closer spacing than the spacing of the applicators the support (9) is moved laterally under the carrier between several indexed positions along a path with the carrier being lowered to make deposits when the support (9) is at each of the indexed positions. The applicators in the carrier (3) are positionally offset by differing amounts relative to the indexed position so that the deposits are made at different positions on the slide.</p> |
