<p>A control device allows the hydraulically assisted steering force to be varied in function of the vehicle speed. At low speed, the hydraulic power assistance is strongly boosted, and is increasingly reduced with increasing speed. The control device comprises an electronic switchgear (10) which controls the flow through an adjustable choke (7), for example a magnetic value, in function of a speedometer signal. The adjustable choke (7) is lodged in a supply line (3) of a power-assisted steering (4, 5, 6). A manometric switch (14) arranged in the supply line (3) downstream of the adjustable choke (7) can supply a control signal to the switchgear (10). If the driver swerves suddenly at high speed in an emergency, the pressure drop causes the manometric switch (14) to actuate the switchgear (10), which in turn opens the adjustable choke (7). This boosts the power-assist function and ensures that the sudden steering movement can be executed safely.</p> |
