PURPOSE: To provide a rotation preventing device having an excellent function with the simple structure by straightly guiding a lock member between an engagement position and a release position inside of a pedal main body freely to be slid. CONSTITUTION: A helical spring 10 maintains a lock member 18 at the engagement position, and a part 12 contacts with a support pin 2 at the engagement position so as to prevent the rotation of a pedal main body 1 in relation to the support pin 2. In cases where the pedal 1 is not engaged with a shoe 13 of a rider of a bicycle, the pedal 1 can be directed to the optimal position for engagement of the shoe 13. In this condition, a head part 9 of the lock member 8 is projected upward from a support surface for the shoe 13. In cases where the shoe 13 is engaged with the pedal 1, the head part 9 is pushed downward, and the lock member 8 is moved to the release position, resisting the work of a spring, and the pedal 1 is freely rotated in relation to the pin 2 at the release position for ordinary pedal operation. |
