CATION DYEABLE POLYESTER FIBER EXCELLENT IN FEELING AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To obtain a cation dyeable fabric having natural silky feeling, by using a polyester fiber prepared by mixing a specific amount of a water-soluble polyester containing polyethylene glycol and a sulfone group-containing bifunctional monomer mixed therein. CONSTITUTION:A polyester fiber is formed by mixing a water-soluble polyester having at least >=20mol% polyethylene glycol expressed by the formula (n is 2-10) in the total diol component and a bifunctional monomer having SO3M (M is hydrogen or metallic ion) linked to the aromatic nucleus in an amount of >=5mol% based on the total dicarboxylic acid or total glycol component at >=3% expressed in terms of weight ratio with a polyester consisting essentially of polyethylene terephthalate. A fabric using the above-mentioned polyester fiber is subjected to weight reduction treatment with an alkali to form partial denier mixed state of respectively different cross-sectional shapes with random surface unevennesses and further the fiber divided with cracks extending from the fiber surface to the interior in the longitudinal direction to randomly project ultrafine fibers in the form of branches.
