<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound useful as a psychotropic agent by protecting the carboxy group of 4-oxo-3-thiazolidinyl-acetic acid to obtain a starting raw material, subjecting the raw material to oxidization and elimination of the protecting group and reacting the product with 1- diphenylmethylpiperazines. CONSTITUTION:The subject compound of formula V or its salt can be produced at a low cost, by oxidizing a compound of formula I (R is protected carboxy) (e.g., 4-oxo-3-thiazolidinylacetic acid ethyl ester) to obtain a compound of formula II (e.g., 4-oxo-3-thiazolidinylacetic acid ethyl-1,1-dioxide), eliminating the carboxy-protecting group to form the compound of formula III or its salt and finally reacting the compound, its salt or its reactive derivative at the carboxyl group with 1-diphenylmethyl-piperazine of formula IV, its salt or its reactive derivative at the amino group.</p> |
