Pulverulent basic metallic soaps of a composition according to the formula (I> (MO)n . M(RCOO)2 (I> in which MO denotes an oxide from the group formed by CaO, ZnO, MgO, BaO and PbO or a mixed oxide from the group formed by PbO/CaO, CaO/ZnO, BaO/CdO and BaO/ZnO, M denotes one of the abovementioned metals, RCOO<-> denotes the radical of a fatty acid having 8 to 34 carbon atoms and n denotes a number from 0.2 to 2, can be obtained by reacting pulverulent fatty acids with pulverulent metal oxides in the presence of water and/or a C1-C3-alkanol and/or an acid at temperatures between ambient temperature and 100 DEG C and, if appropriate, reduced pressure and during the reaction continuously removing the water formed, the reaction mixture being present during the reaction in the form of discrete, free-flowing particles. The metal soaps obtained are suitable, depending on the composition, as a cattle feed additive or stabiliser/lubricant compositions for the plastics industry. |
