PURPOSE:To control the number of coloring hues and a color separation to obtain a thermal recording medium forming a multi-color and sharp image, by a method wherein a multi-color reflected image can be seen from a transparent protective layer side by laminating an opaque protective layer on a coloring unit layer of one upmost side and a transparent protective layer on a transparent coloring unit layer of the opposite side. CONSTITUTION:A multi-color thermal recording medium is formed by providing an opaque Magenta coloring layer 2a, for example, on the rear side of a transparent substrate 1 and a transparent Cyan coloring layer 3 on the top side thereof and further providing a transparent protective layer 4 on the Cyan coloring layer 3 and an opaque protective layer 5 on the Magenta coloring layer 2a. Both the heat-sensitive layers 2a, 3 form colors with the same applied energy. Thus, by thermally recording an image from the both sides using a thermal pen or head, Cyan and Magenta can be formed independently on the both sides of the substrate 1 with substantially the same applied energy. Additionally, since the substrate is substantially transparent, the color forming of Cyan, Cyan + Magenta (Blue), and Magenta can be realized with a good color separation by seeing the image from one side. |
