PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording medium free from a frictional fog and superior in color-forming sensitivity, by incorporating an esterified compound of a specific higher fatty acid, having a predetermined melting point range and nonphenol hydroxyl groups in molecules, and a straight or cyclic alcohol in a thermal color-forming layer. CONSTITUTION:As an esterified compound of a 20-28 C higher fatty acid, having a melting point of 50-100 deg.C and one or more nonphenol hydroxyl groups in a molecule, and a straight or cyclic alcohol, for example, a monoglyceride of the higher fatty acid, such as a behenic acid, is used in the content of 5-50wt.% per all the solid content in a thermal color-forming layer. Furthermore, as an electron donative dye, a fluorane compound, such as 3,3-bis(p- dimethylaminophenyl)-phthalide, is used, and an electron accepting compound (a color developer(, a hydroxybenzoate, such as 4,4'-isopropylidene diphenol, is used. These dye and color developer are dispersed into particle form in a dispersion medium, applied on a substrate of paper etc., dried, and smoothened for obtaining a thermal recording medium. |
