PURPOSE:To obtain an oscillator capable of easily forming a resonator adjusting its frequency and efficiently removing heat by opposing a plane mirror or a concave mirror to a diffraction grating having grooves and fixing an oscillating element to the groove of the grating. CONSTITUTION:The diffraction grating 12 is formed like a comb shape having the grooves 15 with depth (t) and has a plane reflector function for reflecting waves on its surface as electrical operation. The solid-state oscillating element 13 is fixed on the grating 12 so as to be directly mounted on the tip metallic part of the groove 15 to utilize the grating 12 as a radiator. A DC bias is applied from a terminal 14 to the element 13. In said constitution, the pitch of the grooves 15 is smaller than 1/2 operation wavelength and set up so that the oscillation element 13 can be easily mounted and formed and the depth (t) of the grooves 15 is set up so as to satisfy a short-circuiting condition when the groove 15 is observed from the surface of the grating 12.
