PURPOSE:To obtain an antimicrobial agent effective in a wide application range of harmful microorganisms, etc., useful for industrial water, etc., showing excellently germicidal effects by synergistic action, containing an isothiazolone complex compound and glutaraldehyde in a specific ratio as active ingredients. CONSTITUTION:An isothiazolone complex compound shown by formula I [R<1> is H or (substituted) monohydrocarbon group; R<2> and R<3> are H or halogen; M is metallic cation or ammonium; X is complex compound forming anion; a is 1 or 2; b is integer wherein anion X satisfies valence of cation M] and/or isothiazolone derivative complex compound is uniformly blended with glutaraldehyde shown by formula II, an active ingredient of well-known fungicide in the weight ratio of 1:100-100:1 to prepare an antimicrobial agent. The agent is generally used in aqueous solution, solvent solution, emulsified dispersion, etc. The agent is preferably useful as industrial water especially related to paper pulp industry and as cooling water for various industries. |
