PURPOSE:To prevent the leaking out of mercury through the interface between a overcoat portion and a sealing glass portion, the electrode disconnection, and the leaking out of sealed gas by constructing the overcoat portion, provided at the junction region between display electrodes and a take out electrode, with amorphous lead glass which is same or substantially same with the sealing glass. CONSTITUTION:A display panel is constructed by providing an overcoat portion 27 to a front plate 11 and a back plate 13, at the electrode junction region of display electrodes 15, 19 and their take out electrode 17, maintaining the spacing between said plates by the discharge cell spacing walls 21, sealing by a sealing glass portion 25 to form displaying discharge space 23, and introducing mercury therein. Amorphous lead glass, which is the same or substantially the same with the sealing glass 25, is used for the overcoat portion 27 so that they are adapted to each other and achieve good gastightness, and the influence of residual air during the baking for formation is eliminated, and the possibility of leaking out of mercury through the interface between them is also eliminated. Thus, the electrode disconnection due to the formation of mercury amalgam or the leakage of sealed gas is completely prevented. |
