A method for freeze-coagulating a latex or emulsion of polymer produced in an emulsion polymn. process comprises coating a freezing surface with a thin film of ice before it is exposed to a polymer emulsion to initiate a freeze coagulation, and separating the coagulated polymer from the freezing surface along with sepn. of the ice layer. The temp. of the surface is raised until the layer of ice melts and the coagulated polymer falls away. The polymer material is allowed to coagulate on the coated freezing surface. The emulsifier soln. is sepd. from the coagulated polymer and recycled, being used in further emulsification polymerization.
